BBC World multimedia reporting - Turkey
June 27th, 2007 • Related • Filed Under
In July 2007, I travelled across Turkey, reporting for the BBC on the tensions between the secular ruling classes and Islam, in the run-up to their general election. The trip was specifically designed as an experiment in digital, cross-platform journalism. Not only did I report for BBC World, and News 24, in the usual way, and made a documentary on my return, but I filed continuously across other digital platforms. This was a first for the BBC, as Global Director of News, Richard Sambrook writes here.
As I explained here on the BBC site, the aim of the project was to try as many reporting options as we could. I posted continuously to my Twitter stream, sent pictures to my flickr stream, and - again for the first time for the BBC - made Behind The Scenes videos, and posted them to our YouTube Channel.
