Why are people happy to disclose huge amounts of personal information online, especially to social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace? In a programme for BBC Radio 4 I asked whether our notion of privacy has changed and what the consequences for society might be.

BBC Turkish Journey Documentary
This is the 30 minute documentary we produced for the BBC World & News24 “Our World” strand, at the end of the Turkish Journey project - on the battle between Islam and Secularism in Turkey, in the run up to the general elections in July 2007.
Written and presented by me, shot and directed by Keith Morris, and film-edited by Amanda Gunn.
BBC World multimedia reporting - Turkey
In July 2007, I travelled across Turkey, reporting for the BBC on the tensions between the secular ruling classes and Islam, in the run-up to their general election. The trip was specifically designed as an experiment in digital, cross-platform journalism. Not only did I report for BBC World, and News 24, in the usual way, and made a documentary on my return, but I filed continuously across other digital platforms. This was a first for the BBC, as Global Director of News, Richard Sambrook writes here.
As I explained here on the BBC site, the aim of the project was to try as many reporting options as we could. I posted continuously to my Twitter stream, sent pictures to my flickr stream, and - again for the first time for the BBC - made Behind The Scenes videos, and posted them to our YouTube Channel.
